Play65 invites you to the European Backgammon Tour qualifier Portuguese Open

Play65 is hosting a special series of online backgammon tournaments in search of Israel's backgammon champion to send him/her to the 3rd Portuguese Open - the European Backgammon Tour qualifier in Portugal.

March 10, 2008 -- Play65 is hosting a special series of online backgammon tournaments in search of Israel's backgammon champion. Playoff65 was commenced on March 2nd and will conclude on March 31st in a special event that will broadcast on Sports5 Channel. The winner of the final event will be named Israel's Backgammon Champion and we will represent Israel in the European Backgammon Tour qualifier Portuguese Open.

The online backgammon site Play65 is inviting players from Israel to a daily backgammon challenge on which Israel's backgammon championship will be named. Throughout the month of March, Play65 will host hourly backgammon tournaments from Sunday to Friday. On Saturdays at 9 pm (Israeli time), a mini final tournament will take place, in which the winners of the previous week's tournaments will compete against each other. The final Israeli Backgammon Championship will be held on March 31st and will be broadcast on Sport5 sports channel.

The winner of Israel's Backgammon Championship will receive free entrance to one of Europe's most prestigious backgammon tournament 2008 Portuguese Open, organized by the World Backgammon Association (WBA) and scheduled to April 29 until May 4 at the Casino Estoril in Estoril (near Lisbon), Portugal. Israel's backgammon champion's flight to Portugal and accommodation expense will be sponsored by Play65 online backgammon website.

About Portuguese Open

The Portuguese Open backgammon tournament was founded by the World Backgammon Association (WBA) in 2006, taking place at the Casino Estoril, known as the largest casino in Europe and appraised for its perfect location, along the beautiful Estoril beach and not far from Lisbon international airport. The 1st Portuguese Open offered prize pool of about €50,000 and attracted mainly local players. Since 2007, the tournament is integrated with the first and successful season of the European Backgammon Tour (EGBT), and it manages to draw the world's top backgammon players. In addition to the grand money prizes, the Portuguese Open awards special prizes to its outstanding participants such as "never give up" special prize and a "bad beat" prize.
